Stokey coffee spots - Fetch approved!

There were several reasons we were drawn to living in Stoke Newington almost three years ago: the inimitable Clissold Park (where at times there appears to be more dogs than humans!), the sense of community that's created that village-like character Stokey is famous for, and the great coffee shops that always welcome our furry friends.

Church Street and the bustling High Street are a parade of eclectic and independent shops, and nestling amongst them are four gems we love and visit often. With a growing pooch population it's rather unsurprising that so many cafes and shops are now dog-friendly. However if great coffee comes with an even better attitude towards pets then we're a very happy customer indeed! In no particular order, here are our top places to visit when in town with your doggos.

The Good Egg

93 Stoke Newington Church St

As well as awesome coffee and staff, the Good Egg produce probably one of the best Bloody Mary's around too. Dishes that cleverly celebrate signatures from the cafes of New York to Middles Eastern street food, it's difficult not to photograph your plate before devouring it. The fact they have a cute terraced garden at the back is another great excuse to take your pup and chat with the locals.

With ceaseless awards and community involvement, it's no wonder its difficult to nab a table at Haberdashery during the weekends - trust us, we've waited patiently many times before! But it's entirely worth it. The coffee always hits the spot, along with the charm and friendliness of the staff, and if you arrive with an appetite then we highly recommend their veggie full English breakfast that quite literally satisfies you for the day. Yum.

One of the first things to greet you as you enter Sapid are their human-head sized doughnuts on display. Forget calories and inhibition and simply buy one with your coffee - we do every time! Sapid is super dog-friendly (and laptop loving too) so it's fairly common to see customers tapping away as their dogs happily interact with others. If the weather is good then certainly make the most of their charming outdoor space too.

Green Room Cafe

113 Stoke Newington Church St

If you love flowers and coffee, then this is the place to bring your beloved pooch. Green Room Cafe, which doubles as a florist, was one of the first places we visited prior moving to Stokey (I had the baked eggs which were delicious!) so it's a deal maker in our eyes. In the warmer months it has a large, beautiful garden which allows you to forget you're in London momentarily. It's 'blooming' great (sorry).
